Director of Religious Education:
The Religious Education program for San Juan Del Rio Parish is based on four
guiding principles:
- To establish and deepen our students' personal friendship with Jesus Christ.
- To teach our students the doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church.
- To reinforce the faith foundation taught in the home and at Mass.
- To teach Catholic life skills, personal prayer, scripture, sacraments, service, etc.
The Religious Education Program
Classes begin September 11, 2011 with a choice of Monday or Wednesday Evening
or Sunday afternoon before 5:00PM Mass. (Sacramental grades only on Sunday)

Sacramental Programs: Reconciliation/First Communion (2nd grade) and Confirmation (8th grade/high school) are two year programs.

Vacation Bible School
VBS provides our young people with a week of fun, games, arts and crafts and religious training to enhance their understanding of Jesus, the Catholic Church and its teaching.
VBS is conducted in June at SJDR School from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Girls and boys who have completed Pre-K (4) through 5th grade may enroll.
Registration begins in May.
Adults are invited to teach or assist teachers. Junior and senior high students can earn service hours by assisting also.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
Men and women, high school age and
upward, desiring to join the Catholic Church are welcome to participate in the
RCIA program.
Details include:
- RCIA classes conducted from mid-September to Pentecost
Sunday.
- Classes meet in the SJDR School on Sundays (except Holidays)
from 9:30am to 11:00am.
- There is no fee for the RCIA program. Class materials are
provided.
- Instruction focuses on the history and structure of the
Church, Scripture, the Mass, the sacraments, personal and group prayer, and some
basic theology of the Catholic faith, as taught in the Catechism of the Catholic
Church.
- Catholics desiring to learn more about their faith are always
welcome to join us.
